The Great British salad competition

Congratulations to Ms Rea from Colchester, who beat hundreds of people around the country to ‘bag’ our Great British Salad prize of £1000. Ms Rea’s winning Great British Fish & Chip Salad was a huge hit with the judges Harry Eastwood and Sophie Michell: “What could be more British than Fish & Chips?” said Harry. “This recipe takes Britain’s favourite dish and gives it a fresh and healthy twist. Combining everything we could possibly want from a Great British Salad: fresh, British produce and a great mix of flavours and textures - this dish is simple enough to be created and enjoyed by anyone and for any occasion.”

“She shows just how versatile and exciting salad leaves can be.” commented Sophie “Salads don’t have to be boring bland leaves drenched in salad cream - they can be combined with all sorts of hot and cold ingredients to add a boost of nutrition to your favourite meals. This recipe would also be great with a bag of darker, spicier leaves such as watercress, spinach and rocket.”

Congratulations also to our runners-up Sally Hay from Hull and Rhian Nelmes from Powys who each received a £500 cash prize.
